Sneak peek at the cover art for The Hammer and the Blade

Sharing is caring!

Angry Robot has posted a sneak peek at the cover art for The Hammer and the Blade.  You can read the whole post here (and they have a higher res image) but I’m posting the art right here, too.

To say that I love, love, love this would be an understatement.  It captures Egil and Nix exactly. My thanks to the artist, Richard Jones, whose portfolio you can see on his website.

Egil, the brooding, surly priest of the Momentary God, is the muscle of the duo and is foremost.  Nix Fall, College of Wizardry dropout, quick with sharp words and sharp steel, is the brains of the group and stands behind Egil.

You can read excerpts from The Hammer and the Blade here, here, and here.  I’ll be releasing more as we countdown to the release date (June 26, 2012). I’d note that every pre-order results in a soul being released from Purgatory and sent on to a glorious afterlife.  So maybe consider pre-ordering?  🙂

I hope you dig this as much as I do.

  2. I really cannot wait to read this beast. I just finished your Star Wars novels and am currently starting on your Forgotten Realms series. Fantastic work – and I’d italicize “fantastic” if I knew how.

May the Purgatory-bound soul I release with my pre-order ascend into a realm of guitar solos and… fighter jets, I guess? 😀

    • Ha! Glad you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read so far, Anthony. I’m entirely certain you’ll dig The Hammer and the Blade, too.

  3. Ok that does look amazing. Just an insane amount of detail even in Egils hammers is phenomenal. I have only read your work in the FR but the excerpts you have posted so far have me very excited.

  4. Paul, I’ll buy pretty much any fantasy book you put out, but that cover looks like a bad 3d + 2d mix 🙁

I’m so happy that the classic fighter/thief combo is making a comeback in fantasy. I’m a big fan of Michael Sullivan’s work with his fighter and thief, so I’m looking forward to this one.

Also REALLY looking forward to Godborn, if WotC would hurry the eff up and print it already. I’d have happily paid 10x the cover price if they had published it when it was originally supposed to be published.
